My sources are I made it tf up. /j [But being serious here it’s probably because Shadow Freddy is partially incarnated from Afton]

It has its own agenda, which isn't like the Mimic at all the shadows are supernatural entities that can fade in/out of existance. The Mimic is a tangible bot that can't magically fade in/out of existance Imo, it can't be Shadow Freddy, but I can see why some people think so
My theory is that Shadow Freddy (in this minigame) is Cassidy. She's leading them there to attack William. Whether she knew the souls would be freed or not is debatable tho. And this Shadow Freddy is different from the one in FNaF 2, which has 1 ear and is based on Withered Golden Freddy. That Shadow Freddy is Crying Child.

I always saw him as a springlock failure victim, and one of the real main characters of 3. Imo Springlock failures. Shadow Freddy in FNaF3 knows where the saferoom is (customers, animatronics, and cameras can't see the saferooms).

Shadow Freddy is basically William wickedness, I mean, basically FNAF 4, FNAF 6, UCN, and the Fazbear frights show that shadow Freddy is William wickedness, made in flesh. I mean, he works for Willy. We see that in FNaf 3 end of night mini games. I only voted employee because I believe that was the original intent.
I believe that Shadow Freddy is just a random kid, but his body is a hallucination related to Bite victim because that one is important. One could say he's the Puppet, but I'm aware it's not very popular theory. I doubt that FNaF2 S. Freddy is FNaF3 S. Freddy, the same way as I doubt BB's victim is Phantom BB.
