In 1965, he and Barry Melton co-founded Country Joe & the Fish which became a pioneer psychedelic rock band with their eclectic performances at the Avalon Ballroom, the Fillmore Auditorium, the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, and both the 1969 original and 1979 reunion Woodstock Festivals.

Joseph Allen "Country Joe" McDonald (Washington D. C., 1 de enero de 1942) es un músico y activista estadounidense, reconocido por haber liderado el grupo de rock psicodélico Country Joe and the Fish en la década de 1960.

Country Joe and the Fish Woodstock 1969 – Love. Joseph Allen McDonald, nicknamed “Country Joe” has been in the music business since the Woodstock days. McDonald was the lead singer of the rock group Country Joe & the Fish and appeared at the original Woodstock 1969 festival as well both of the reunion festivals.
