St. Kieran’s College holds a record number of Leinster and All-Ireland titles in all grades, and is renowned as a hurling nursery for future stars of the game. To help students integrate into First Year, an inter-class hurling league is run each year.
St. Kieran's College was founded (not at the current site) in 1782 as a Diocesan School for Catholics. Over the following years, it was a various sites including Burrell's Hall - now the site of St. Mary's Cathedral, the Granges Road and Birchfield.
