Superboy awoke with amnesia in the Wild Lands, an island of anthropomorphic animal-men. Superboy quickly regained his memory, but feared he was somehow in the distant future. After passing various challenges, Superboy, along with some other humans stranded on the island, were permitted to leave.
Superboy (Kon-El) was created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett, first appearing in Adventures of Superman #500. However, in the Prime Earth continuity, Superboy (Kon-El) first appeared as part of the New 52 DC Universe in Superboy (Volume 6) #1 by Scott Lobdell and R.B. Silva.

The New 52 is the continuity of the current Superman, Superboy, and Supergirl comic books, as well as every other DC superhero. The continuity began in 2011 when the Modern Age Continuity was rebooted, due to the events of Flashpoint.
The New 52 was the 2011 revamp and relaunch by DC Comics of its entire line of ongoing monthly superhero comic books. Following the conclusion of the "Flashpoint" crossover storyline, DC cancelled all its existing titles and debuted 52 new series in September 2011. [1]
