Southern Pacific 4449, also known as the Daylight, is the only surviving example of Southern Pacific Railroad 's "GS-4" class of 4-8-4 "Northern" type steam locomotives and one of only two GS-class locomotives surviving, the other being "GS-6" 4460 at the National Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, Missouri.

SP 4449 is the only surviving GS-4 class engine of Southern Pacific Railroad, built in 1941 and retired in 1957. It was restored for the American Freedom Train in 1975 and has since participated in many excursions and events across the US.
