Michael Alexander Kirkwood Halliday (o M. A. K. Halliday) (Yorkshire, Reino Unido, 13 de abril de 1925- 15 de abril del 2018 Sídney, Australia) [1] fue un lingüista, filósofo, pedagogo y profesor universitario australiano de origen británico.
La Lingüística Sistémico – Funcional (LSF) es una teoría del funcionamiento social del lenguaje, desarrollada por el lingüista M.A.K. Halliday. Esta teoría inscribe el lenguaje dentro de una semiótica social, entendiéndolo como un sistema por el cual se crean y se intercambian significados.
