During Joseph Smith’s prophetic ministry, he received over 100 revelations that were recorded and later canonized. 1 The majority were given in the first-person voice of Jesus Christ, and most of these now appear as sections of the Doctrine and Covenants.

The best example of Joseph Smith’s providing an explanation of the book of Revelation is in Doctrine and Covenants 77. Received in March 1832, this revelation consists of a question-and-answer about specific verses in Revelation, chapters 4–11.

13 de abr. de 2021 · In a 1907 letter, Joseph Fielding Smith made an indirect reference to Revelation Book 1, indicating that he knew of its existence. Because Roberts apparently did not know about the manuscript volume and Smith did, it may be inferred that the volume was in Smith’s possession as early as 1907.
In June 1830, Joseph received a revelation that he described as the “visions of Moses.” 5 This revelation may have served as a catalyst to Joseph’s work on the translation. This revelation now appears as the first chapter in the book of Moses in the Pearl of Great Price.
