I wouldn't worry if I were you. The structure is usually: if + past simple >> + would + infinitive. When if is followed by the verb be, it is grammatically correct to say if I were , if he were , if she were and if it were .
If I were you, I'd file a formal complaint. Yo, en tu lugar, presentaría una queja formal.
Some conditions seem more real to us than others. Real conditionals refer to things that are true, that have happened, or are very likely to happen: If you park here, they clamp your wheels. (It is always true that they clamp your wheels if, or every time, you park here.)
In the second conditional, we can use if I/he/she/it were (more formal) instead of if I/he/she/it was (spoken English). If I were/was fit, I would run a marathon. We wouldn’t have any problems if he were/was more reasonable.
