You need brick-style cream cheese, butter, confectioners’ sugar, a splash of milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to offset the sweetness. It glides on seamlessly and is silky smooth.

Some of the tiers were made of my famous chocolate cake with ganache filling and the others were a delicious Red Velvet Cake with a cream cheese filling. The whole cake was iced with buttercream frosting and trimmed with fondant ribbon and pearls.

  4. 18 de sept. de 2007 · Red velvet cake is so much better (imagine that, but yes, it is) with a cooked flour frosting. Perhaps it depends on what part of the country you are from, but putting cream cheese frosting on a red velvet cake is a bit no-no where I come from!!!

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter and cream cheese on medium-high speed until smooth and creamy, 1-2 minutes. Add powdered sugar. Add sugar in 2 additions, beating well after each addition until smooth.

I perfected this recipe for my cake decorating business. You can imagine a wedding cake with a runny filling would not be a great idea.
