Monocyte Distribution Width (MDW) is the only regulatory-cleared hematological biomarker that helps to establish risk of severe infection and sepsis in adult patients in the emergency department. 1 de sept. de 2022 · The regulatory-cleared MDW in vitro diagnostic (IVD) parameter is intended for use with adult patients presenting to the emergency department, on whom a white cell differential test has been ordered. MDW is measured from a (K2EDTA) whole-blood venous sample within 2 hours of collection.

Monocyte Distribution Width (MDW), proprietary to Beckman Coulter analyzers, is the only regulatory-cleared hematological biomarker that helps establish severity of infection and risk of sepsis in adult patients in the emergency department.
11 de ene. de 2022 · The hematology analyzer DxH 900 (Beckman Coulter Inc.) provides the new reportable parameter MDW, included in the leukocyte 5 part differential analysis, cleared by Food and Drug administration (FDA) and European Community In-Vitro-Diagnostic Medical Device (CE IVD) marked as early sepsis indicator (ESId).
MDW alone had the best performance on detecting sepsis. We suggest the introduction of MDW as a systematic screening test, together with other sepsis biomarkers, in order to improve the accuracy of sepsis diagnosis regarding oncology patients.
