Sweetwater says they inspect their instruments and they may do so but all the new guitars I've bought from them required all thr same things Musiciansfriend guitars needed. Plus, Sweetwater never cuts me a deal or throws anything in EVER! Musiciansfriend and Smash have great customer service as well.

So, I recently came across a post comparing some of the more well known online music supply sites, and noticed a few people complaining about Sweetwater Music. I don't know much about their history as a company, but I can at least share my personal experience.
Dude sweetwater sales reps are the shit. I generally buy too much shit because I’ve recently gotten a good job that pays me better than I’ve ever been paid so GAS is hitting pretty hard for me right now. I’ve emailed my sweetwater sales rep just to ask him if he has heard any good things about a particular instrument or whatever.
He received the Xbox 2-4 weeks after claiming his win. I won a pedal from Proaudiostar and cables from Rattlesnake Cables. My GF won a $25000 vacation from Hershey. That's a lot of vacation. The rules were: 7 days, 6 nights, anywhere in the contiguous 48, with at least 1 night spent in Hershey, PA for up to 4 people.
19 de feb. de 2022 · Even though Sweetwater is getting the larger benefit, the customer does get some benefits they can’t usually get elsewhere, I.e. small discounts on stuff, good experiences with returns, etc. Another thing I don’t see mentioned often is the Sweetwater sales staff generally are (AFAIK) actual, living breathing musicians with a decent knowledge of their field.

I was in supply chain for decades (and still am) and the usual chain is cost to manufacture is X, cost to distributor or retailer is X*2.5 minimum, and then retailer sells at 40-60% markup. GC street buys are 40% off the retail price, and that’s a one off deal.

I've been buying gear from Sweetwater for years now, financing it with those 48-month 0% promotional purchases.

They now only sell through what they call “super partners” like Sweetwater and Thomann. In some nations, such as Canada, that means there is a single physical shop selling Behringer for the entire country. Yup.
