Launch of a new network. The YES Network launched at noon on March 19, 2002, with a half-hour introductory show. The first game broadcast on YES was an exhibition game against in which the New York Yankees faced the Cincinnati Reds at 7 PM on the same day.
The YES Network premiered on this day in 2002. Here are its first few moments on the air.
Launch date: March 19, 2002. The first regular season Yankees broadcast was April 1, 2002 (Yankees vs. Orioles). New York Yankees on YES: YES Network televises 128 regular season Yankees games per season, in addition to Yankees on pre- and postgame shows, Yankees Batting Practice Today and Spring Training games.
