Toumani Diabaté (/ ˌ t u ˈ m ɑː ˌ n i ˌ dʒ ɑː ˈ b ɑː ˌ t eɪ / too-MAH-nee jah-BAH-tay; born 10 August 1965) is a Malian kora player. In addition to performing the traditional music of Mali, he has also been involved in cross-cultural collaborations with flamenco, blues, jazz, and other international styles.

Toumani’s debut album, Kaira - the first solo recording of the kora - was released in 1988 when he was only 21 years old. On it he showcased, with astonishing virtuosity, some of the classics of the kora repertoire, and put the instrument firmly on the map.
