Oscar the Grouch is a Muppet character created by Jim Henson and Jon Stone for the PBS / HBO children's television program Sesame Street. He has a green body, no visible nose, and lives in a trash can. Oscar's favorite thing is trash, as evidenced by the song "I Love Trash", with a running theme being his collection of seemingly useless items.
Between the first and second seasons of Sesame Street, Oscar appeared on The Flip Wilson Show with a new design including green fur and a blue eyebrow. His head had yet to take its final shape. An altered version of this puppet would be used for Granny Grouch in the second season premiere, and Matilda in episode 0372 .
