Murder Ballads is the ninth studio album by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, released in 1996 on Mute Records. As its title suggests, the album consists of new and traditional murder ballads, a genre of songs that relays the details (and often consequences) of crimes of passion.

Un corte que hace honor al dísco, duro de escuchar y asimilar. Tienes hasta que esquivar los sonidos de disparos que se oyen.

At least 65 men, women, children, and animals are gruesomely put to rest on Murder Ballads. Traditional murder ballads—bluesy, romanticized snuff stories, where even the daintiest melody spills blood and bullets—are so quintessentially, definitively Nick Cave, it’s hard to imagine his persona without them.
Nick Cave doesn’t ease us in gently on Murder Ballads. Opener Song Of Joy , originally titled Red Right Hand II , is perhaps most disturbing of all. It’s a chilling account of a father witnessing the murder of his family, soundtracked by a pulsing single note and spectral organ tones.
