Marianne is the protagonist of Strange Magic, and is the heir to the throne of the Fairy Kingdom. She is the eldest daughter of the Fairy King and is the older sister of Dawn. During her journey to rescue her sister, Marianne and the Bog King fall in love and unite the separate kingdoms.
A magical realm is divided between the Fairy Kingdom and the Dark Forest. When fairy princess Marianne sees her fiancé, Roland, kissing another fairy on their wedding day, she vows never to fall in love again. In the Dark Forest, the Bog King has the same view on love, despite his caring mother Griselda's protests.
Marianne and Bog, at the insistence of Dawn and his mother, finally admit their feelings for each other and kiss while serenading Wild Thing to each other.
