Lomita ( Spanish for "Little hill") is a city in Los Angeles County, California, United States. The population was 20,921 at the 2020 census, up slightly from 20,256 at the 2010 census . History. Lomita, also known as Lomita Village, is an urban neighborhood in the southeastern area of San Diego, California. It is bounded by Meadowbrook Drive and Skyline West to the west, unincorporated La Presa to the east and Skyline East to the south, and Jamacha to the north.

Lomita’s part in the Spanish period of California’s history begins in 1542, when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo sailed into Bahia de los Humos, or Bay of Smoke as he called it, followed by Sebastian Viscaino in 1603, who renamed it San Pedro Harbor, after Saint Peter.
