Jack Rivers Lewis (June 4, 1944 – May 5, 2023), known professionally as Jack Wilkins, was an American jazz guitarist. Career. A native of New York City, Wilkins grew up listening to his parents' music, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Billie Holiday. He started playing guitar when he was thirteen.

Bio. Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been on the International jazz scene since the early 1970's. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, and Buddy Rich among many others.

27 de sept. de 2018 · Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1944, Wilkins started playing professionally in his late teens, getting an up-close view of jazz music’s steady rise and consequently falling in love with the genre. He played rock ‘n’ roll as a kid, “Chuck Berry, all that shit,” he says now. He also played in doo-wop and dance bands.
