I realized that Patrick Ewing was madly underrated when a friend of mine ranked him 43th on his top 100 all time. I personally rank him 26th all time and I can't really understand people who places him out of their top 30.
Patrick Ewing, one of the most underrated (or just least talked about) superstars in NBA history, averaged 28.6/10.9/2.2 with 1 steal and 4 blocks a game for the entire 89-90 season while also playing all 82 games. Ewing also averaged 38.6 minutes a game that year, which was good for 7th in the NBA just ahead of Scottie Pippen's 38.4.
Ewing is heavily underrated. If Starks shoots 40% in game 7 instead of 2 of 18, Ewing has a ring and a finals MVP.. In 1992 Knicks pushed the Bulls to 7. Probably the one player whose legacy is the hardest hit by playing at the same time as Jordan with possible exception of Reggie Miller.

Versatile offensively and dominant defensively. Ewing had a wide array of post moves and a soft touch around the rim. He was also comfortable away from the basket and could more than reliably hit mid-range shots, and could hit a 3 now and then.
