Gordon Jamison Davis (born August 7, 1941) is an American lawyer and civic leader. He was born in Chicago in 1941 and has been a resident of New York City since his graduation from Harvard Law School in 1967, and has been a leader in New York City's public, civic, and legal affairs.
Davis was born on August 7, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of a University of Chicago professor, yet he grew up near an almost exclusively all African American neighborhood. Davis credits the musical influ-ences he heard there as fostering his early love of music. Jazz was his favorite.
