Taíno artist, Duho, 1292–1399, wood and gold, 44 x 22 x 16.5 cm (The British Museum) Ranging in color and graining pattern, wooden duhos reveal the diversity of Caribbean timber and might for instance be made of the tropical hardwood Guayacan, which the Taíno valued for its dark color and glossy finish.

Duho or seat made from a single piece of wood, representing an anthropomorphic figure with sculptured head and engraved geometric designs on the back, used for the cohoba ritual. The Duho was also used by the cacique while watching the ball game played by the Tainos.
This seat is one of two Taíno seats called Duho in the British Museum that were originally found on the island of Hispaniola. The other is also modelled anthropomorphically on a man, but in that case the resemblance to a man on his stomach is more proportional.

Es una silla caribeña, originaria de lo que hoy es la República Dominicana, fue hecha entre los años 1200-1500 n. e. Cuenta una interesante historia del pueblo taíno, que vivió en las islas del Caribe antes de la llegada de Cristóbal Colón.
Asiento simbólico de piedra o madera utilizado por los caciques y miembros de importancia de la sociedad taina. También se le conoce con el nombre de duho.
