  2. 1 de mar. de 2023 · The gene encoding p21 (CDKN1A) is the first transcriptional target identified for p53. 55 p21 is a potent inhibitor of binding to cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs), which inhibits cell cycle ...

  3. 24 de nov. de 2023 · Long-term p21 and p53 dynamics regulate the frequency of mitosis events and cell cycle arrest following radiation damage. Article 01 October 2022. p53 dynamics in single cells are...

  4. 8 de mar. de 2020 · The p53 transcription factor plays a critical role in cellular responses to stress. Its activation in response to DNA damage leads to cell growth arrest, allowing for DNA repair, or directs cellular senescence or apoptosis, thereby maintaining genome integrity.

  5. The retinoblastoma protein RB and the transcription factor p53 are central tumor suppressors. They are often found inactivated in various tumor types. Both proteins play central roles in regulating the cell division cycle. RB forms complexes with the E2F family of transcription factors and downregulates numerous genes.

  6. 23 de feb. de 2022 · TP53 is a gene that encodes for the p53 tumor suppressor protein, commonly referred to as the “Guardian of the Genome” [ 1 ]. Its main biological function appears to involve the protection of the DNA integrity of the cell. TP53 plays additional roles in development, aging and cell differentiation [ 2 ].

  7. Cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK) inhibitor p21 (also known as p21 (WAF1/Cip1)) is one of these factors that promote cell cycle arrest in response to a variety of stimuli. The inhibitory effect of P21 on cell cycle progression correlates with its nuclear localization. P21 can be induced by both p53-dependent and p53-independent mechanisms.
