Mark Fredrick Farner (born September 29, 1948) is an American musician. He was the original singer and guitarist of the rock band Grand Funk Railroad, which he co-founded in 1969, and later as a contemporary Christian musician .

29 de sept. de 2023 · Here’s how Grand Funk Railroad began: Farner and Brewer played in Terry Knight’s band, Terry Knight and the Pack. They had some regional success in Michigan, but nothing huge. Knight would later become their manipulative producer-manager-Svengali. It’s not something Farner looks back upon with fondness.

Mark is as real as they get: he’s a husband, a father, and grandfather, and in his fourth decade of marriage to wife Lesia. He’s a true family man. “I think our fans originally connected to our songs because we were sincere” Farner said.
Mark Farner, their guitarist and lead singer, founded the group in 1969 with drummer Don Brewer and bass player Mel Schacher. They disbanded in 1976 and regrouped from time to time, but never with their classic lineup. The band is still active, but Farner has been out since 1998.
