Jerry Nelson (July 10, 1934 – August 23, 2012) was an American puppeteer, best known for his work with The Muppets. Renowned for his wide range of characters and singing abilities, he performed Muppet characters on Sesame Street , The Muppet Show , Fraggle Rock , and various Muppet movies and specials.
The season includes a posthumous performance by Jerry Nelson in the premiere episode, and one episode pays special tribute to him. Matt Vogel performs the Count in newly created material for the season otherwise. The season also features the final material recorded by Kevin Clash before he resigned from the show.
Come the late 1990s, Nelson has begun to focus more on his musical career but continues his involvement in The Muppets. Born July 10, 1934 Died August 23, 2012 (78)
Filming began in September 2010 and was completed entirely in Los Angeles five months later. The film was the first theatrical Muppets production to not star Frank Oz and Jerry Nelson performing their respective characters, although Nelson contributes an uncredited voice cameo.

It’s not even the massive amount of content he created with the Muppets, but the depth of the characters he helped to create and the legacy he’s leaving behind.
