Dominique Dunne required little makeup to guest star as a victim of abuse, as her bruises were real. The night before filming she has been beaten by her boyfriend, John Thomas Sweeney. This episode carries the following dedication: "This episode of Hill Street Blues is dedicated to the memory of Dominique Dunne ".
