Roughly translated it’s a song about a boy and a girl and someone being blind drunk and stumblin− in an alley. We do that too but without the alcohol. We just like being in blind alleys.   7. It is noted to be a halyard shanty, but most groups just have fun with it – we do! To be “bully” is to be happy drunk, but perhaps too drunk to keep up with your mates who want to press on to the next place, so they stash you in an alley until they can come pick you up on their way back to the ship.
