30 de abr. de 2024 · Wally Schirra, U.S. astronaut who flew the Mercury Sigma 7 flight (1962) and was command pilot of Gemini 6 (1965), which made the first space rendezvous. He was the only astronaut to fly in all three of the early U.S. crewed spaceflight programs—Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo.
During the flight, astronauts Schirra, Donn Eisele, Command/Service Module (CSM) Pilot, and Walter Cunningham, Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) Pilot, tested the spacecraft's systems, in particular the systems that had been redesigned after the Apollo 1 fire.
