Margaret Mahy ONZ (21 March 1936 – 23 July 2012) was a New Zealand author of children's and young adult books. Many of her story plots have strong supernatural elements but her writing concentrates on the themes of human relationships and growing up.

Margaret Mahy fue una bibliotecaria y escritora neozelandesa de literatura infantil y juvenil. Nacida en Whakatane (Nueva Zelanda, Margareta estudió en la Universidad de Auckland y en la Universidad de Canterbury, comenzando a trabajar como bibliotecaria escolar en 1956 en Wellington, dentro del sistema bibliotecario de Nueva Zelanda.
