Grasshopper Island is a British television serial for children created by Joy Whitby. It was first broadcast in 1971. It was filmed on location in London, Milford Haven and Corsica.

Everyone dreams of running away at least once in their lifetime. Toughy, Smarty and Mouse discover an island which seems perfect. Sun, sand, fruit in the trees, fish in the sea. No haircuts. No school dinners. No goodnight kisses. Best of all, no grown-ups. Or so they think.
They will soon find out. In 1970 Joy Whitby set out to tell the story of three boys - Smarty, Toughy and Mouse, who wished to sail away to an uninhabited grasshopper island and live there for a year and a day. This website is a tribute to the wonderful story and TV Series that provided such escapism to children and adults alike.
