David Whitaker (18 de abril de 1928 - 4 de febrero de 1980) fue un guionista televisivo inglés y novelista conocido por su trabajo en los primeros años de la serie de ciencia ficción Doctor Who. Fue el primer editor de guiones, y supervisó el guion de los primeros 51 episodios entre 1963 y 1964.

Arguably Whitaker's best known work from his 1960s career as a session arranger and orchestrator is his distinctive arrangement for the 1966 version of The Rolling Stones' "The Last Time", written for the instrumental album The Rolling Stones Songbook, and credited to a seasion group dubbed The Andrew Oldham Orchestra.
