Elwyn Ralph Berlekamp (September 6, 1940 – April 9, 2019) was a professor of mathematics and computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. Berlekamp was widely known for his work in computer science, coding theory and combinatorial game theory.

9 de abr. de 2019 · Elwyn Ralph Berlekamp was born in Dover, Ohio on September 6, 1940. He received a B.S. (1961), M.S. (1962), and Ph.D. (1964) in Electrical Engineering from MIT and joined the U.C. Berkeley faculty in 1964 as Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering.

Biographies. Research Biography - September 2007. by Elwyn Berlekamp. In the first grade in Strasburg, Ohio, I learned to play a game called "Dots and Boxes". It was the beginning of a lifelong interest. Fifteen years later, I began to perceive some of the large amount of interesting mathematics which underlies this game.
