Computer pioneer Robert W. Floyd, a professor emeritus and former chair of the Department of Computer Science, died on Sept. 25 after a long illness. He was 65. 25 de sept. de 2001 · Floyd was the main proof reader and critic for Knuth’s famous The Art of Computer Programming before it expanded from a single book into a series. The collaboration grew stronger, and Knuth sponsored Floyd’s application for a position at Stanford University.
