Kenneth Christian Skates (born 2 April 1976) is a Welsh Labour politician who has served as Cabinet Secretary for North Wales and Transport since 2024. Skates has represented the constituency of Clwyd South in the Senedd since the election of 2011.
Ken was appointed to the Welsh Government as Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology in 2011. He was then appointed Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism in 2014 and promoted to Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure in May 2016.

In 2016, Ken was re-elected as AM for Clwyd South with an increased majority. After previously serving as Deputy Minister for Skills and Technology and Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, he is now the Welsh Government’s Minister for Economy and Transport.
