Liu Shaoqi was a Chinese revolutionary and politician who served as the chairman of the People's Republic of China from 1959 to 1968. He was purged during the Cultural Revolution and died in prison in 1969, but was posthumously rehabilitated by Deng Xiaoping's government in 1980.
