George Francis FitzGerald (3 de agosto de 1851 – 21 de febrero de 1901) fue un físico irlandés y profesor en el Trinity College de Dublín, a finales del siglo XIX. FitzGerald is known for his work in electromagnetic theory and for the Lorentz–FitzGerald contraction, which became an integral part of Albert Einstein 's special theory of relativity. A crater on the far side of the Moon is named after him, as is a building at TCD.
George FitzGerald was a brilliant mathematical physicist who today is known by most scientists as one of the proposers of the FitzGerald-Lorentz contraction in the theory of relativity.

George Francis FitzGerald (born Aug. 3, 1851, Dublin, Ire.—died Feb. 22, 1901, Dublin) was a physicist who first suggested a method of producing radio waves, thus helping to lay the basis of wireless telegraphy. He also developed a theory, now known as the Lorentz–-FitzGerald contraction, which Einstein used in his own special theory of relativity.
21 de feb. de 2023 · Un precursor de la relatividad. Todos aquellos que vimos en su momento relatividad especial debemos recordar el tema de la contracción de Lorentz y FitzGerald, y un día como hoy 21 de febrero se cumplen 122 años de la muerte de este último, me refiero a George FitzGerald.
