A native of Bay Village, Ohio, Laughner was described by Richie Unterberger as "probably the single biggest catalyst in the birth of Cleveland's alternative rock scene in the mid 1970s." [1]

Laughner, who died in 1977 at the age of 24, co-founded legendary bands Rocket from the Tombs and Pere Ubu, among others. An amazing singer and songwriter, he has received little recognition.

Born 22 August 1952 in Bay Village, Ohio, USA / d. 22 June 1977, aged 24 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, of acute pancreatitis. Best known for being in the "classic" late period lineup of Rocket From The Tombs (1974-75) and also co-founding Pere Ubu in September 1975 after Rocket's split that July.
