A two-time winner of the Apollo Theater's amateur competition, she recorded solo and as a part of a duo that she shared with vocalist/pianist H-Bomb Ferguson.
Dillard’s most (in)famous rock and roll performance never actually occurred: she was slated to take part in Alan Freed’s “Moondog Coronation Ball” in Cleveland in March of 1952.
