John Joseph Wardle (born 11 August 1958), [citation needed] known by the stage name Jah Wobble, is an English bass guitarist and singer. He became known to a wider audience as the original bass player in Public Image Ltd (PiL) in the late 1970s and early 1980s; he left the band after two albums.

Jah Wobble is one of the genuine musical polymaths to emerge from the post-punk era. His dub-heavy style weds reggae, jazz, funk, punk, and numerous global folk traditions. First emerging as the bassist in Public Image Ltd., he left to pursue an idiosyncratic musical path beginning with 1980's The Legend Lives On.
