Prime-time preview of ABC's 1977 Saturday morning schedule, with skits and musical performances by Kaptain Kool and the Kongs ("The Krofft Supershow"), "Hardy Boys" Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson, and appearances by Scooby-Doo and Benji.
They also made an appearance on Dick Clark's American Bandstand and they starred in two primetime TV specials featuring previews of ABC's Saturday-morning lineup. 10 de nov. de 2020 · Kaptain Kool and the Kongs was similar to The Monkees in that they were created to host the Saturday morning children's television series "The Krofft Supershow." The " K " stands for creators/brothers Sid & Marty " Krofft ," but clearly no one considered the perplexing acronym that this created.
While The Krofft Supershow would debut on September 11, 1976, Kaptain Kool and the Kongs made their debut the night before as part of the Krofft-produced ABC’s Saturday Sneak Peek. The special was hosted by Jimmy Osmond and featured the rest of his family, Dick Clark , Marty Allen and ventriloquist Chris Kirby .
