Rainer Werner Fassbinder (Bad Wörishofen, 31 de mayo de 1945 – Múnich, 10 de junio de 1982) fue un director de cine, teatro y televisión, actor, productor y escritor alemán. Fue un importante representante del Nuevo cine alemán. Llegó a encargarse también de la fotografía y, sobre todo, del montaje de muchas de sus obras.
