William du Pont Jr. (February 11, 1896 – December 31, 1965) was an English-born American businessman and banker, and a prominent figure in the sport of Thoroughbred horse racing. He developed and designed more than 20 racing venues, including Fair Hill at his 5,000-acre estate in Maryland.
Originally constructed in 1921, it is a fine example of the Classical Revival architectural style. From July 1928 to June 1930, William du Pont, Jr. expanded the office space with an addition. The property is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hagley Digital Archives.
William du Pont, Jr. (1896-1965) was the youngest child of William and Annie Rogers Zinn du Pont (1858-1827). The younger William became the president of Delaware Trust Company in 1929; he was also a local financier, foxhound breeder, and tennis enthusiast.

William du Pont (August 21, 1855 – January 20, 1928) was a member of the Delaware Du Pont family. He was the youngest son of General Henry du Pont (1812-1889) and Louisa Gerhard du Pont (1816-1900).
12 de ago. de 2019 · In 1925, William du Pont, Jr. began to assemble a tract of land on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border that would eventually encompass more than 7,600 acres. He wanted to create a nature preserve where he could raise some cattle and engage in his two favorite pastimes: horse racing and fox hunting.
William du Pont, Jr. was the youngest child of William du Pont (1865-1928) and his second wife Annie Rogers Zinn du Pont (1858-1827). He was born on February 11, 1896, in Loseley Park, Guildford, Surrey County, England, where his parents lived from 1892 until 1902.
