Armstrong would not score again in his eight starts during the rest of the 2021–22 season. On 6 August 2022, he made his first appearance of the 2022–23 season in a 4–1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. On 30 August 2022, Armstrong scored his first league goal of the season in a 2–1 win against Chelsea.
