Conway Maurice Berners-Lee (19 September 1921 [2] – 1 February 2019) was an English mathematician and computer scientist who worked as a member of the team that developed the Ferranti Mark 1, the world's first commercial stored program electronic computer.

Berners-Lee was born in London on 8 June 1955, [24] the son of mathematicians and computer scientists Mary Lee Woods (1924–2017) and Conway Berners-Lee (1921–2019). His parents were both from Birmingham and worked on the Ferranti Mark 1, the first commercially-built computer.
Tim Berners-Lee grew up in London. Both of his parents (Mary Lee Woods and Conway Berners-Lee) were mathematicians, who had worked on the Ferranti Mark 1, a pioneering effort to commercialize the early Manchester computer.
Tim Berners-Lee, British computer scientist, generally credited as the inventor of the World Wide Web. In 2004 he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II and received the Millennium Technology Prize from the Finnish Technology Award Foundation.
