The self-titled Jackdawg (name change explained later) is a mix of swampy and gritty rock, sunny pop and laden with terrific three-part harmonies. Nearly 20 years later, the “lost” album is found. ClassicRockMusicBlog spoke with Cook about Jackdawg and how the project came about.
20 de may. de 2009 · A more rock-oriented animal propelled by the high-powered guitar wrangling of John McFee (Clover, Doobie Brothers), Jackdawg — also featuring the late Keith Knudsen from the Doobie Brothers — convened in 1990 to record what would become a lost album of solid, rip-roaring rockers with a Southern heart.
It's just that in 1990, the listening public probably wasn't ready for something this retro. Multi-instrumentalist and dusty vocalist John McFee, bassist Stu Cook and the late drummer Keith Knudsen comprise a power trio high on old-school harmonies and sing-along hooks.
