Chasing Shadows is the Comsat Angels' sixth album, released in 1986 on Island Records. Having left Jive Records, the band had gotten a recording contract with Island, aided by Robert Palmer, who confessed on a TV show to be a fan of the Comsat Angels.

Following the missteps of two more mainstream-sounding efforts, the Comsat Angels signed to Island at the behest of an in-house champion — Robert Palmer, in another example of his wide and intriguing tastes — and created Chasing Shadows, almost picking up where Fiction had left off.
