Beland and Guilbeau, as The Burrito Brothers, toured the world in the early to mid-1980s, performing in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the United Kingdom, as well as throughout the United States.

The early 1980s were a period of commercial success for the band. Curb Records encouraged the band to change its name and for most of the decade they were known simply as "Burrito Brothers." Gib Guilbeau reconnected with his bandmate from Swampwater, songwriter and guitarist John Beland.
In 1988/89 Beland was working with BOBBY BARE and his band "Pulleybone", when a promotor in Europe asked the Flying Burrito Brothers to reunite for a series of dates in France and Spain. Again the FLYING BURRITO BROTHERS reformed with new line-up: John Beland, Gib Guilbeau, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, Larry Patton and Rick Lanow.
