Produced by Daniel Tashian, the album was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the band's first with drummer Sammi Niss, who joined the band in 2020. Released to critical acclaim, the album was preceded by the singles "Water Underground", "Haunted World" and "Flowers".
