Esther Phillips (born Esther Mae Washington; December 23, 1935 – August 7, 1984) was an American singer, best known for her R&B vocals. She rose to prominence in 1950, scoring several major R&B hits including " Double Crossing Blues " and " Mistrustin' Blues " under the moniker "Little Esther".
14 de mar. de 2010 · The 15:29 medley by Esther Phillips is a pain in the ear. I doubt if this actually was even taped at one of Ray's shows. The very similar contents of the Bakersfield concert, make (the Summer of) 1968 the most probable year for the Blues Thing show.
A collection of unreleased live tracks, It's a Blues Thing is a decidedly mixed bag, featuring a handful of good performances, as well as a few with Esther Phillips, but most of the disc is bland and second-rate.
