Aaron Hammes is a doctoral candidate in English at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City. His dissertation focuses on contemporary American and Canadian transgender novels as constitutive of a distinctive “minor literature.” He teaches courses in prison abolition and sex work studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan.

Minor literature denotes literatures of the minoritarian, not simply that produced by (cultural, ethnic, racial, gender-expressive, sexual, ability, age) minorities.
