Hanoi Rocks was formed in Helsinki in 1979 and the first line-up included vocalist and saxophone player Michael Monroe (Matti Fagerholm), guitar player Nasty Suicide (Jan Stenfors), guitar player Stefan Piesnack, bass player Nedo and drummer Peki Sirola.
Other founding members were guitarist Stefan Piesnack, drummer Peki Sirola, and bassist Nedo Soininen. The band was quite popular, having them be the first Finnish band to chart in the UK. History - Part 1 - 1979-1981. 1979 – Helsinki The story of Hanoi Rocks began at Herttoniemi Old Swedish School where was held a promo party to Pelle Miljoona 1980 group's Viimeinen syksy LP. There Andy McCoy introduced Makke Fagerholm and guitarist Stefan Piesnack to each other. Piesnack was sacked from Pelle Miljoona's band because of drugs.
